Ocimumoside

Ocimumosides A and B are novel anti-stress compounds isolated from Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum) that demonstrate neuroprotective and antioxidant properties in pre-clinical studies, potentially modulating the brain’s monoaminergic system and antioxidant defense mechanisms to combat stress. They are considered glycosylglycerols and were effective in normalizing stress-induced changes in rats, a finding not observed with the related compound ocimarin.
